Replacing two rear arches
Sadly the rear arches on my my93 wrx (262 silver) have seen better days they both need replacing as the dreaded rust has set in and I can't keep using the touch up pen and pretending they're gonna be ok.
Drivers side arch has 3 patches of rust, at both ends (by rear bumper and by side skirt and in the middle) the passenger side arch has a smaller patch of rust by the rear bumper.
Unfortunately I think cutting out the rust patches would'nt be effective for long as the rust has probably spread under the paint and has'nt surfaced yet.
Ive been to a few body shops who quoted me £600-£700 to cut out the four patches of rust and weld over, fill, spray etc.
A friend of my girlfriends brother (works for a busy body shop and knows his stuff) quoted me £400 to cut out the old arches completely and fabricate new ones, spray, underseal etc.
Only prob is he's very busy and its would be a job on the side at mates rates when he gets a spare few hours here and there...its my everyday car and can do without it for a max of four days.
Anyone had this kind of work done before and could recommend anywhere?
Sorry for the essay
