Default PPP backbox swap

Hi

The previous owner of my my03 sti had the PPP kit fitted but then later swapped the rear box for an altogether louder one.

I am looking to swap back to the PPP backbox.

From searching the forum there seem to be two different partnumbers;
SE 001 SU

or

SE 061 SU.

What is the difference between them and which should I look for to get back to the original PPP box?

Thanks
Steve

not certain but could have a look on mine tomorrow. the ppp backbox is not available on its own from subaru but a different prodrive one is available. the one you can buy is oval shaped, the ppp backbox is 4 inch round. there always seem to be plenty of genuine looking ones on ebay.

MY 03STi PPP back box had SE 001 SU embossed as part no. (Fortunately I'd retained the photos I took for the guy I sold it to).

This is a round box with a 4" round exit pipe.

001 is for the early cars (pre 2000MY) and won't fit the later cars as the hangers are different. An easy identifier is that it has a 90mm dia tailpipe.

You need an 061 which has a 100mm dia tailpipe. This may also have a 001 marking which can cause some confusion, all part of the homologation process..........

Mike,

That is very confusing. Just to confirm my 03STi kit came with a back box that definitely had 001 marking (and no sign of 061 on it anywhere), hangers in the right place and a 100mm tailpipe.

Steve,

Sorry if I inadvertantly gave you a bum steer. Sounds as if you should forget the numbers and look for the hangers and 100mm tailpipe as Mike suggests.

Sorry to raise a near 12 year old thread. But does anybody know why there are two different part numbers for what it looks like the same part? I am putting on my Prodrive Backbox and it has SE001SU on and also at the bottom it says SE061SU. A bit confusing...
