What ECU duid you run previously?
A big gain.
What turbo do you run?
Well done.
Very interesting and a fantastic result if this is the first one of these ECUs the guy has mapped.

nice one mate, glad to hear you`ve got a simtec too now

seems worthwhile with the added performance, I take it the only thing you`ve had done this time is the simtec?

Excellent to see Bob taking on the Simtek, sounds like good gains also. I hope he comes on here to comment on how he found it.

it was a hard choice but i paid £1050 for the FP green, aero motive fuel reg and a perrin 3" turbo intake delivered. so all that for that price i thought was a steel and couldnt say no. the only problem being that its taking god knows how long for this turbo to come. it was ordered being of December and said to be here in 7 days........ im half tempted to cancel the order and go for the MD but the FP is ment to be alittle more powerful.
im sure we will meet one day lol

I assume that includes the time you had to 'pleasure' Bob to pay for the job

I am getting one soon, but I'm not paying Andy.F by the hour at that rate

It was probably about six hours (but the oil change, charge temp sensor fit and antilag enable switch fit etc took up the first hour and a half) but I always work fixed price so no extra charge to Dazza from me, started mapping in earnest at about 11:00 and finished at 14:00, no starting point, no base map so first principles. Some experimentation to suss the software capability involved as well, normally when starting with a new ecu I would fit to my car and do all the up front type experiments but Dazza's need was greater.

I'll add another post tomorrow about how it went, only just got back, "bit of a day" so to speak, up at 05:15 this morning.

cheers

BOB

I presume that was through choice Bob ? The ECU's come with a full set of base maps which will let you start and run the car.
Nice result regardless

Cracking car mate!!

Needs more stickers though!!

Great result with the Simtek ECU too; that's some increase in torque!

Hi Andy, ecu defaults are nothing like a correctly prepared base map which is, in my terms, totaly different. Since this is the starting point for Simtek with BRD then I didn't, of course, have anything other than defaults to work from. The car fired up fine, ran for all of 3 secs on the defaults before it died. You'll see what I mean when you start, for a pretty basic upgrade of exhaust, induction etc then defaults should be expected to start and idle the car. Darrens car ... lol it was never likely to happen.

The defaults in the ecu are no better or worse than Link or Motec et al provide, same scenario just different hardware.

Darren's car was a very good motivator to get up to speed quickly.

I didn't get the one on one run through the software as you had at Autosport.

cheers

bob

Ok, I understand Bob, I thought you meant there was no map whatsoever in the ECU.
I've had one in testing on my 22b for a few weeks now

Nice increase there, encouraging for me as I'm planning on the simtek

Are you running UK or STI Heads? What boost is it set to?

Know what you mean, are you able to deliver the power to road in second or Wheelspin?
