Front mount Intercooler - couple of questions
Hi,
looking to get a front mount for my MY98 Uk Turbo.
Have a couple of questions,
1. will it be safe to use without a remap/ECU as i wont be getting it remapped straight away? (will be getting it remapped at a later date)
2. Where to buy from? i read to stay away from the ebay ones?
thanks

it would be better with a remap but it will be ok
buy from ? hmmmm , well i have an autobahn 88 and running 450+ bhp
the intercooler including everything cost me £235
i did change the clips to mikalor though , and now i've changed them to murray (available from owen developments)

If you buy the cheaper end of the market, make sure the tubing is smooth on bends, I've seen some (not autoban) with sharp bends welded not good for flow and pressure drop. Best move you'll make though FMIC.

only go for a front mount m8 if you have powerlvls over 340 bhp as it will cause lag on your turbo if you dont have the setup if your under 340 stick with top mount

My Autobahn88 was decent enough, for the money. Good bends and OK silicone joiners, the jubilee clips it came with were OK at first but after a bit of dismantling/reassembly they start to wear pretty quick and need throwing away. Get some proper Mikalors, or what I use which are JCS Hi-Grip stainless. I've had a couple of pipe blow-offs while driving using the Autobahn jubilee clips which can be a surprise LOL
As mentioned above though, and FMIC is a bit overkill if you're going for 300. A lot of work to fit and on mine it caused both a VF35 and a TD05-16G to surge.

Totally agree...FMIC all the way one big power on the cards. If you do go for it under 350 and map it with boost controller, most of the issues will be sorted plus you'll get much less heat soak - bit over kill though.
