pistons is rattling in the bore due to clearances fairly large when engine is cold..
as long as it is a continuous tick / knock matching the rpm and goes when engine warm then it sounds like piston slap.. do a search on here on "piston slap" you should find sound clips.. if it is not matching rpm then it would be something to worry about.

Wouldn't a fairly recent bottom end rebuild taken care of the piston slap issue though? New pistons matched to bore size a bit better than the originals that had a tendancy to do it when cold.

depends whether the pistons were changed, if so which make etc.. the drop in pistons will do it.. most rebuilds won't necessarily replace pistons, depends if there is bore damage..

Tappets arn't hydraulic on a ver4...
Forged bottom ends will normally make alittle noise until warmed up... nothing to worry about...
Aslong as it quiter when warm wouldn't worry too much...
