Unhappy rebuild help needed

i have a my00 sti block the problem is as follows the engine was rebuilt 20000miles ago not sure why or what was done but the pistons look like new rods aswell but how can i id the pistons. ie are they oversized has the engine been bored i just dont know. are they sti pistons or after market all i can say is on top of all pistons 50 is stamped rods have numbers aswell. i have measuring tools but no spec to compare 2 the only reason i stripped the engine is no3 spun a shell any help please

Only 20k on a rebuilt engine? Who did the rebuild?

i have not got a clue who done the engine rebuild it has a tag on it saying mex engines but i never heard of them

A quick google shows nothing either. What stamps in the book do you have for 20k ago? No invoice?

It could be a shoddy rebuild, so I'd be certain everything else is ok before putting it back together.

my car is a my99 uk spec i got the sti engine from someone else bit of a project so i have no service history on that engine only what the seller told me but by the look of the engine very clean ie hardy no carbon on pistons so rebuild would check out with miles

They will be .50 oversize giving a bore size of 92.50mm - if they are stamped HB with two dots facing the front,cross hatching underside of the crown - they are standard cast Subaru pistons.
The forged ones have a smooth underside of the crown and be stamped HF 2/3/4
A few pics would help if possible.

i will take some pics tomorrow and post them up . they do have a smooth underside and a black coating on the skirts
