Thumbs up ecu swop

I am after buying an sti ecu to swop into my wrx, my question is. when swoping them is it a simple case of unpluging one and pluging in the other or is there more to it, thanks

Dont bother buy a proper ecu that is designed for your car like a link, motec, power fc etc

If you want more power speak to Scott t at PolarPerformance

You can straight swap the ecu if it has 4 pins but i would speak to Scott T first.

Then don't swap the ecu from a completely different engined car, it either won't work or it will for a bit and then blow up. It isn't a case of simply 'chipping' your ecu either. There is a 'scoobyecu' available for your car that is set up to run properly.
If you can't afford an engine rebuild, don't just swap ecu from wrx/sti's.

A 6K ECU from an STi 2 can be fitted to a WRX Saloon or UK (its the same map that Prodrive fit to the UK Prodrive Upgrade) but it's the only one i would suggest. the other STi ECU SA, SB, SC and 7K are not really suitable due to more aggressive timing/fuelling.

Re : boost issues mentioned above...this is normally caused by owners adding further mods and/or messing with the boost control pipes and restrictors. In over 5 years of supply and 400+ sales I think if there were any real boost issues it would of been highlighted alot sooner.

Oh! and as Simon mentioned above, and as we keep saying... the Pre96 ECU can now be live mapped, see ESL Live Spec

there seems to be a cross over point / inconsistency with some of the STi2 having 7500rpm limit.. on the one hand it appears to be an STi3 but isn't do you know which 4plug ecu has that limit in Scott? I thought it was related to RA but doesn't seem consistent

I think the STi 2 RA has the higher limit in the 7K ECU... I'll check....

STi 2 (6K ECU) and STi 2 RA (7K ECU) have 3 stage Rev limit of 6800, 7000 & 7100
STi 1 (SA ECU ) has 3 stage rev limit of 7000, 7200 & 7400
STi 1 RA (SB ECU) has 3 stage Rev limit of 6800, 7000 & 7100

Pretty sure all the WRX are 6800, 7000 & 7100

doesn't sound like a prodrive ecu.. usually have a pink sti sticker etc..

also the 98 requires the keys reprogramming.. so not like you can just plug it in and try.
