speedo and idle issue?
Hello all.
Cars been running pretty recently, but just noticed on way back from tesco(20:00) that my Speedo isnt reading anything.
Revs are working and all lights etc, but just no needle movement.
Didnt notice til now only because I always look at Road Angel
Anyone know how it runs on a MY98 WRX, is it cable or wire?
Also noticed on way home from work a bit earlier(15:30) and still now, that when car is running, when you drop the clutch, revs drop to almost stall then picks up. Just seems really poor idle at mo, plus major pops and bangs on overrun, which it never has done before.
Could this be anything to do with speedo or am I talking out my ****?
sorry to be a pain.
cheers
Tony

Yeah all sorted.
I have a my98 with electronic speedo cable.
The problem was caused by the speedo sensor that is plugged into the gearbox being faulty.
Sourced a new one, removed old one (gearing was shot), replaced with new one, and hey presto, sorted.
Seems that, as the ecu couldnt get a true reading, was making the idle and running all over the place.
This is the sensor in question
It should turn easily, but have a little resistance.
The broken one turned too easy and could be moved in and out from the sender.
Hope this helps
