My car is an impreza uk turbo 2000 w reg.

As the title states....

What bhp figures should i expect from the following mods...

Decent cold air feed
Sports cat down pipe
Decat centre
Stainless Backbox
Remap

And also the above combined with new headers and up pipe?

Cheers in advance

Go with sports cat which passes MOT on its own. Apparently only loses 2bhp, on my W Reg with Ninja Sports cat I have 273bhp/273lbft.

JR panel filter
Sports Cat dpipe
Magnex centre & backbox
Tek3 remap
3 port boost solenoid

As any exhaust change is illegal, you may as well decat it it, replace the underfloor for the MOT, takes at most 25 minutes! (around 15 with practice)

Leave the decat down pipe on and refit middle section (with cat) for the mot.

I was led to believe that the police could not fine you or caution you for decating your car. Where as the ministry of transport could, (random road checks).

Why bother with all the hassle of swapping sections & possibly failing a roadside emissions check?

Just buy a blinking Sports Cat downpipe!!

You are not going to notice a 2bhp difference compared to a full decat are you.

Its not that they are that expensive either @ £299.

Strictly speaking, you're not supposed to interfere with the exit of exhaust gasses in a manner not approved by the vehicle manufacturer in such a way that affects the volume of the cars exhaust. So, technically, any aftermarket exhausts, not manufactured by Subaru are a no, no.

However, it's not really enforced unless a) your car fails an emissions test at MOT (and we all know that this can be circumvented quite easily) or you put something with a daft volume on there.

BTW Agree with STix, get a sports cat DP. Hassle over!

Ported headers are a very good mod; they lower boost threshold and improve resonse, also liberate a few extra ponies but I very much doubt you'll get 25bhp out of em!! Porbably more worthwhile if you upgrade the turbo to offset some of the loss of responsiveness caused by a bigger blower!

Not really, if the Police pull you over and do a random emissions test a fail on this could result in a possible conviction of driving an unroadworthy vehicle since in it's current state (decat) it would not pass an MOT.
Similarly, if you really **** them off they can do you for the same if you have no washer fluid since this is also a MOT fail item!!

Construction and use regs prohibit you from altering any emissions control device (noise as well as pollutants) away from standard, its not really enforced at all, although there are an increasing number of cases in Scotland of people getting ASBO's (Scotland introduced a revised ASBO law in 2004) for loud exhausts....

In theory your car could be seized by the Police as not meeting C&R rules means its unroadworthy ...and that could be just for a backbox.
