Default what should oil pressure be?

fitted tim oil pressure gauge 100psi(came with sender) used braided remote fittin kit, have retained factory pressure warning light. but gauge only seems to read 40 psi on cold start up, drops to 20 psi warm but drops off scale ie -10 at tickover, warning light operational (remove wires light comes on).
no other known probs with engine, goes like a train uses no oil or water any ideas? wrong sender, wrong gauge? i'm stuck. cheers phil.

fitted one to mine and on idle when cold it is 100 psi drops to just under 40psi on idle when warm.

when revving when hot it is about 80-100psi depending on how high it is revving.

sounds like you either got a dodgy gauge or sender or oil pressure is actually low.

Try rigging up an earth wire from the TIM sensor to engine (ring connector under TIM sensor thread.)
It may be that the TIM sensor relies on earthing directly to the engine rather than a wired earth. Using the extension won't offer continuity to allow an earth.

your's wired as instructions? or have you added seperate earth to sender?

sorted
wired body of sender to engine/earth and getting 90-100psi cold, 70-80 hot revvin and 20-25 hot tickover.
remote kit means that sender is mounted on rubber so no direct earth except maybe down braided line, so now sorted. cheers phil.
