Default Correct oil level

Seems to be a disputed area.
I always thought that it is best to max the oil as with only 4.5 l. capacity and 10,000 service interval, the oil will have a harder time and degrade more quickly if there is less of it. Some say keep level half way between dots.
I tend to fill to top dot on stick (when oil has settled and engine is cold).
Another thing is that on my MY06, the two dots are about one inch apart, but on my MY02 they were less than half this distance apart - what gives?

This is obviously a stupid question.
My mistake.

HI mate, I found that having the oil all the way to the top made my oil pressure overly high, however filling to halfway between the 2 dots I get a far more reasonable oil pressre level...

To be honest I would have filled it to the top had I not had a oil pressure guage and found that halfway works better for my car / my engine....

There is a guy on here who knows everyhting about your oil I will see what I can find and PM you.

As for the distance between the 2 dot on a 06 or a 01 will simply be the sum design.. are you sure they both take 4.5l of oil?

Cheers mate.
They both take 4.5l.
I dont have an oil pressure guage, so I don't worry too much about the pressure
I got an oil change yesterday and told them to only put 4 l in as it is usually over full with 4.5l
4 l made the level at about 1/2 cm from the top dot, so I think I will maintain it at this level.
