When my crank sensor was dying, my car would also fail to start. I wouldn't see any check engine light come on, but when I checked for codes I found the Crank sensor code stored.
Did you check for codes or you just looked to see if the CEL light was on?

the usual problem with the CEL is that the car won't start and the error code is stored.. then the car starts and no CEL as the error is not current. ie. the engine started.. it should be there in the history.. does the CEL come on with ignition when you turn the ignition on but not the engine.. if not then the bulb is at fault etc..

hello
it could be due to your scooby flooding, the next time it does not start try putting your accelerator pedal to the floor and try starting then, this gets rid of the flooding problem and starts the car.

Do a search on previous posts and read through about crank sensors
Most will say that they always act up in the most embarrisin of places lol, and at the time it aint funny (well not to the driver anyway)
