hi folks need advice
i got 02 wrx uk car.i got it decated and remapped(remap was £600),got the car remapped to turn off the engine management light that came on when decated plus for more power(270bhp now). the engine management light was off when remap done, but then came on a few days later.took it back(alan jefferies plymouth),they said they turned the cat sensor completely off so problem fixed.but just today the light came on again when booting it(flashed first then stayed on).while it knacker the engine with light on?just that he lives 50miles away and its hassle getting time off work to take down and then pick up.Can the car be driven with light on? thanks

You can drive the car off boost with the light on. You need someone with the right equipment to find out what the fault code is and take it from there.
Did you decat the uppipe by any chance? This can through up a fault which cannot be cured with a remap.

thanx for reply, yes it is fully decated.was told light will came on as the cat sensor is not fitted, but was told they can extinguish the light when they did the remap not through remapping but separate.except it has come on twice, the first time they re did it,was off for a few weeks but no come on again.cheers

Two issues with a full decat, temp sensor in the upipe, this can't be mapped out but needs a resistor to fix, the other is catalyst monitor via the second O2 sensor, that can be mapped out. The latter of course not exactly legal (but then neither is the decat!)

Have a look at this thread. Post number 28 explains how to do the uppipe fix.

This should cure your problem. If not, get it checked out to see what the fault code is.
