Question

Does anyone have any experience of these, or have one themselves?

APEXi AVCR boost map controller and S -AFC fuel mapping controller.

Looking to put them on my P1 and want to know reliability, performance and any disadvantages to them.

Cheers

Andy

The AVC-R certainly has all the features to make a beautiful boost curve if there is such a thing.

You set the duty cycle and boost targets by RPM and program in offsets for different gears.

I am nicking some of these ideas for my EBC project.

Question

John - do you know how reliable it is? Is it going to put a lot more strain on the engine / turbo and shorten the life?

Cheers

Simply depends on how much boost you run assuming you check fuelling, ignition timing. I run a MY00 UK spec car and run 18PSI at 2400RPM, which drops after 5000rpm to 13.5PSI at 6500RPM. Std car runs 4 PSI lower over the whole range and I think it is safe. P1s are a different kettle of fish entirely and I could not comment. You can run a std UK car with a boost controller, but on a P1 I would demand a proper remap. Link ECU seems to be the way to do.
