Default 93 wrx overboosting (quite a bit)

basically a mate has a 93 wrx and its hitting 1.5 bar, pulls like a train but the engine isnt likely to last long like that, what could cause that to happen?I thought it would hit fuel cut way before that

WRX/STi Saloon ECU's 2C, U8, W6, W9 - As above, 11.47psi held to redline. Fuel-cut 14.57psi

this is the standard specs for an early ecu.
Has it been chipped or any extra gizmos fitted?

Sounds like a boost controller of some sort and/or a Fuel Cut Defender has been fitted. Any more detail?

As MBW says a standard fitment ecu should hit fuel cut much earlier. 11.47 psi = 0.8bar, 14.57psi = 1.0 bar.

everything looks normal,he bought it with the boost problem and got it cheap as a result, but there must be something preventing the boost cut from happening and maybe stuck wastegate or problem with the boost control pack

Check the boost solenoid (i think) is connected to the air box... if not this could be why its not hitting fuel cut!

Has it got a induction kit?
