Default Air Fuel gauge fitting

Howdy,

ive just bough a couple of gauges for my 93wrx.

One of which is an 'Air fuel' ratio gauge obviously measuring if its lean, stoich or rich.

Where would you recommend I fit the sensor? with the instructions it just says fit sensor in air intake pipe

p.s if it makes a difference ive got a K+N I/K.

Cheers guys

Did it come with the sensor, most people with a narrow band AF gauge just tap into the OEM sensor wire at the ECU.

LOL @ fitting in the intake pipe... how does that measure AF? The fuel hasn't even been injected yet. Quality instructions, who makes the gauge? I'd be inclined to put the whole thing in the bin with instructions like that

Yes, all impreza's have them. Its the lambda sensor.... which is only narrow band i.e no good for mapping but can give you an indication of AF ratio.

Is your gauge narrow band or wideband (wideband would be inexcess of £150)?

Still can't get over installing it in the intake pipe.... an AF gauge measuring at a point where you only have fresh air. Priceless.

Sorry bud,

when you were talking about the OEM ecu sensor I was thinking of the car ECU..

I know about the lambda/O2 sensor...ive had to fork out for a replacement previously

So with this sensor would you drill a secondary hole in the downpipe and screw in the sensor or tap into the existing O2/lambda sensor wires?

If the gauge is narrow band i would tap into the existing sensor wires, at the ecu under the passenger side dash. You'd need the ecu pinout diagram which i'm sure somebody could give you (i used to have the MY93-96 version but got rid after i changed the car.

Its pin B43 6 (oxygen sensor signal). You need to look at the fuel injection system section (2-7b) and the ecu pin outs are section 7 control module I/O signal. Its near the end of the pdf, page 17 and 18 of section 2-7b
