Default youre opinions on a strange rolling road result!

Hi guys

Just wanted youre opinions on my rolling road result today.

1996 Impreza wrx import with scoobyworld afterburner back box and middle section decat. simota panel filter and walbro fuel pump. the rest is totally standerd.

It made 254 bhp and 303 torque!

Now im happy with the car and it feels quick but i cant help being slightley dissapointed as the car should have 260bhp standerd.

He said the car is running really well but mentioned scooby owners always get6 dissapointed when they go on the rollers

So what do you lot think? does this sound ok? could it of lost that much power over the years?

thanks guys

Has the car been re-mapped to take advantage of the mod's you have done? As the fuelling and ignition requirements will be different.

Why you disappointed? your car is nigh on std anyway, not really done anything to up the power? so thats a reasonable figure. But sayin that
rolling roads are not too accurate anyway you would get a variation from one day to another. (tyre pressures, temps, etc etc)

If its running standard boost, it cant possibly be making 303 lb/ft of torque. Mine is 302 at 1.5 bar.

Hi no it hasnt been remapped i wasnt expecting any big gains as its only the middle section and backbox but to be told its running less than standard just made me worry a bit!

i understand the fuel over here is lower octane but i thought the exhaust would at least make up for that.

The bhp figure seems ok, but IMO that torque figure is way out. Mine at standard was 240/224. Getting another 80 lb/ft is just impossible without big boost increases.

254 bhp and 303 lbs.ft torque sounds very suspect to me. I think the rolling road has given you wrong information. Were there other Scoobs on the rollers in the same session. What figures did they get? A 2 litre WRX doing 250 brake is usually around 225 torque and a 2 litre Scoob never has more torqe than brake.

Dont get hung up on figures, my 95wrx has been heads up agaist a fair bit std apart from 3" exhaust.

Against a 98 wrx sti I pulled away, dont know why he should have an extra 20ps on me, both where giving it our all. lol

Against a Evo 320 We were head to head up to 120mph then he pulled away, dont get it tbh.

Maybe mine is just a good one strange eh, never seen a roller either kinda curious though.

Rolling roads are great for bragging rights, i remember my standard series mcrae doing 290 bhp with a split hose
At the end of the day its how it transfers to the road, if its fast you dont need the rollers to tell you that.

It can do though. Keep the TD04 and boost the midrange and torque can exceed BHP. I'm sure I've seen an Andy Forrest article in the late "Scooby magazine" where a hybrid TD04 produced more torque than power.

Anything STI, I think you're right. The engine's are set to produce their power higher in the rev range and rev higher.

All refers to 2.0 litre. 2.5 is another ball game.

Car won't do much more than standard without a remap. By modding without mapping you've probably made it nothing but noisier and more likely to go bang.

I'd have though no cats would = potential boost spikes. the filter does nothing for you and the ecu probably hasn't got a clue about the fuel pump so it will be operating as standard.

Have a look at getting it mapped. Otherwise i'd be quite impressed with the results losing 3bhp in 12 years!

Now for the voice of reason!

Scooby's are not just about BHP, but also legendary for their handling and for the big grin they put on your face every time you get behind the wheel. A standard car can be mental if the driver knows what they are doing.

Why waste time and money looking for 5 or 10 extra horsepower when the cars are already fast enough anyway! Just tell people it is 300BHP and they will believe you BECAUSE IT IS A SCOOBY!!!!

The early WRX's were 260PS which converts to 256BHP so your cars is just fine.

Thanks for youre input guys! im happy with the car and to be honest not to botherd about figres i was just concernd incase there was something wrong.

reading what youve said im actually quite happy.

I do plan on a few tweeks to come but cant really fund the remap route maybe one of them polar performance chips.

It was weird because the first time he rolled it it made 243bhp and the guy thought it seemed low so the next run he got someone to spray water on the intercooler while it was roleing on it made 254bhp. i now it must of lowerd the inlet temp but i havent got water spray on the car so whats that all about?
