Woula an Sti7/8 top mount fit my 97 v4 type r?
As the title says! 
as I'm thinking of upgrading my top mount to a larger one, don't really fancy a fmic as I'm not really planning to go over 350 brake, plus I've read that it can suffer from lag due to the length of the intercooler pipes and the turbo being at the back of the engine?

It will fit but due to the location of your ISCV you would need to cut the front left face off the intercooler and weld on an Elbow to mount the dumpvalve (in a similar fashion to how the dump valve is currently mounted on your 97/97 Intercooler).
