i took the battery off to recharge it and found this , under the battery ,

Looks like some sort of cable/earth point. whats the other end connected to?

Sorry havent got a clue then as it looks like a heavy battery cable on the top of that threaded piece.That black wire doesnt look standard. Best i can suggest is you trace it and maybe that will give the clue

Looks like an old bonnet alarm switch, lift the bonnet alarm goes off

Looks like a bonnet activated plunger switch for an alarm.
