Default Erratic tickover.

As above, on a v5 type r.

I was wondering if the icv might be at fault, as disconnecting the plug to it has no effect on the idle pattern, which varies from normal to around 2500rpm and sometimes struggling to tickover at all.

I took the icv off to inspect it and found the plunger to be very stiff to move, but unsure if this is normal or how to test its working properly.

Should also say, that the car runs a MAF-less Gems ECU.
I'd really appreciate any help or suggestions.

Cheers.

The 'plunger', the round metal rod, should move freely without any hint of restriction. The idle should also change as you rotate it.

Has your ECU been setup to control the ICV?

Thanks for the reply.

The plunger is far from free, the end coming off in my hand with the spring as I try to move it. Do you mean rotate the icv when its in situ with the engine running, to see if it changes the idle?

Yes I believe the ecu is setup to control the icv, as there is a step in the idle, where it runs at 2000rpm and drops to 1000rpm only when the car comes to a complete standstill, and the ALS uses the icv also.
