Default Why Does My Clutch Pedal Stick?

How Dow,

When driving normally, about town my clutch pedal is smooth, and operates as it should do.

Then, when I give the car some stick and hit peak boost the clutch pedal sticks half way depressed???

It unsticks very easierly, I need only depress it or, if I tap it from the underside with my foot it unsticks.

It's not engge at thatleave, but it is very off putting, and so I consider it dangerous.

I've had a good look around underneath and there ie nothing about for it to get stuck to that I can see.

It only happens when on high boost.????

Any ideas

My clutch pedal sits lower than the brake pedal and works normally but sometimes when I give the car some beans the pedal comes up so it's level with the brake pedal. I then have to press the pedal back down again so it sits back in the lower position and it works normally from there.

Mine's done this since i've had the car and i've just fitted and brand new Exedy Organic clutch and flywheel and it still does it

It's most likely a problem in your slave cylinder, on top of your gearbox. Do a search for how to bleed your clutch and it's all in there.

Is there a spring fitted between the Pivot arm and the block?

The spring acts to disengage the clutch (i.e. clutch down) rather than engage it. If it's missing it will have a very marginal effect.

Mine suffered the same recently after a few drag starts, the pedal stuck down a few inches, but after a 10 mile steady drive it popped back into place. I put it down to over heating the clutch fluid. Anybody have a conclusive answer?

When my pedal stuck down (on track) it was because the driven plate had disintegrated, expensive!!!

Sorry but as small and inconsequential as the spring appears, it's crucial to the operation of the clutch. If you don't have it, the clutch pedal will stay on the floor if you accelerate hard through the gears.

I'll get a new spring I think and give that a go and see what it does.

Mine does the opposite to that ! When I accelerate hard, the pedal rises upwards about 3 inches !!

Yes that's what I meant...that it will have a marginal effect. I.e. not a huge one because the clutch still works, and I know from bitter experience with problems with my own clutch that it's often not just the spring that is the root cause of the problem although it may have popped off anyway. Every clutch sticking hassle I've had, even though I'd thought it was impossible or I'd ruled it out, came down chiefly to a cylinder problem or a bleeding problem. That's just my personal experience of spending freezing night after freezing night in my garage trying to get an unfixable clutch fixed.

Tbh it usually is the spring. But if you're still having problems, fit a slave cylinder from a facelift model, they are a better cylinder, and you won't have anymore problems!
