My STI is very ill, i am soo depressed!!
I am currently waiting for the AA man to tow by classic STI back home, driving back from work and i hear a tick tick tick, gradually getting sounder, the noise gets quicker with more revs, car then decided to konk out at junction until eventually i could'nt go any further.
When i bought the car the previous owner had the engine fully rebuilt (less than 1 k ago) but now its very ill.
Does this sound like a dropped valve? if so any indication of price?

If you had a dropped valve the motor probably not turn over or would sound very bad if it did.
However the above does indicate a possibly valve train issue how was the car running before it died did it get progressively worse as the ticking got louder ?

Yes it did get worse over a 10 mile period. It will start but the tick tick is very loud, aa reckons poss Big ends or valve. I really physically sick, dont you hate when something like this happens.

There is a very noticeable difference from the big end knocking to a valve train tapping. And both will have very different out comes, you need to get it checked out by some one with the experience to give you the answer, and i would not run the car AT ALL until this is done.

Impossible to say untill it is diagnosed mate.
What I would say is that is it critical that you a) take it to a reputable specialist, who won't try and rip you off with an unnecessary rebuild if it's something relatively simple: I would suggest you talk to David at APi b) don't run the car at all, lest you exacerbate any damage.
Brace yourself for a big bill and hope for plesant surprise!
Best of luck!
