Unhappy Strange noise

Wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction...

Had a strange noise on the way home last night and just checked it again today.... it seems to be coming from the alternator/powersteering area but can't really pin point it . It's Like a squeeling noise and is very loud .

I check the p/s fulid and it was a bit low so I topped that up along with the engine oil , it also seems to be whining through the gears 1-3.

anyone got any ideas?

could remove the drive belt and spin all the pulleys by hand to see if any make noise.
also run the engine with the drive belt off to make sure the noise is not coming from inside the timing covers.
