Default hesitation at 2k revs wrx

Hya,

Yet another question for you guys, when i rev my car it struggles at 2k revs but eventually revs past it, when I drive it it will not go past 2k and is really hesitant wont get past 10mph also when it idles its idling at about 400rpm.

Any sugestions please getting abit worried its a 1994 wrx import.

I would..

1. Check the ECU for any fault codes.
2. Get engine to operating temp then unplug MAF, engine should cut out. If it keeps running then MAF is probably fooked.

Could be a tired lambda?

cheers I will give it ago hopefully its going to be down to the leaky exhaust manifold gaskets, this would give the lamba sensor the wrong reading I think,

What do think mate is it possible?

thanks mark

p.s how the hell do you get the back spark plugs out without taking the engine out lol?

Yes, a leaking manifold gasket would effect lambda readings but only if the leak was before the lambda sensor.

You can get the spark plugs out without taking the engine out. You just need to remove things to get access. It is fiddly, but not hard to do.

thanks for that mate my gaskets are ordered mate, so will be fitted soon, if this is not the problem I will try the maf cheers.

Also I have had 2 of the spark plugs out (the 2 front ones) but I tried to get the back ones out and the 12mm bolt hits the chasise legs so if this hard to get out how will the ht lead get out subaru's baffle me Iam used of vauxhalls lol, but I like a challenge.

cheers mark
