Confused by my oil filter position
Hi,
I noticed on MY95 STI there were two pipes hanging quite low just behind the front bumper, i took a look and they shouldn't be there as there is a small cover missing to allow them to be there. The pipes are braided but the braid is split open so i am concerned it will be the rubber splitting next with the position their in.
They go to a remote oil filter which is then bolted to the air intake which is attached to nothing else so the whole lot can move around. I'm guessing this isn't standard and the oil filter used to screw straight onto the block underneath. Am I right?
And what is the point in a remote oil filter if any??
Cheers in advance for any answers

I will try take one tomorrow and post it. It is definitely a remote oil filter. I can't see any oil cooler there in the loop.
I know the oil temp guage is going to the filter (despite the fact its not working). I wonder if its been changed around just to get that guage? surely there are simpler ways tho.
