Can anyone help, i have a 2001 bugeye wrx, unmodified

I get a frequent "flap" or "click" noise when I let up the clutch pedal and it hits the top of its range of motion. Also if i accelerate in first then have to lift off, as the car lurches forwards i get the same noise.

 

Could this be a thrust bearing? Where is such a thing, and is it anything to do with the clutch or gearbox?

Clutch Release Bearing probably, can't offer any advice although best replaced when next having you clutch done.

 

Clutch was replaced about 6k ago, do you think it could have been a faulty bearing? Why does the noise only happen when in gear? As you lift the clutch and the car starts to move thats when the noise happens which makes me thingk it might not be the clutch after all

 

Any other ideas?

 

check the the plastic engine support rod,and it's bushings.


Just beneath the intercooler.
