Default Bearing noise?

Can anyone help, i have a 2001 bugeye wrx, unmodified

I get a frequent "flap" or "click" noise when I let up the clutch pedal and it hits the top of its range of motion. Also if i accelerate in first then have to lift off, as the car lurches forwards i get the same noise.

I have also noticed if braking while turning slowly there is a similar noise which i think could be a failing wheel bearing. Could the first noise be the same thing, maybe as the drivehsafts start moving causing a noise from worn wheel bearings.

My only other thoughts is that it could be the clutch release bearing, but the clutch was changed 5000 miles ago and didn't make that noise at first.

Try doing turns with full lock slowly and see if it still clicks, also if it feels like its skipping. MY03 STi started with similar noises and ended up with a new centre diff. Wheel bearings tend to whine at about 50mph.

I haven't got a whining noise so probably not the wheel bearings. Had a secondhand box on recently, and there was a noticable difference in the amount of play in the diff from my old box compared to the new one. The new one has virtually no play at all. WHich makes me think it could be the clutch as u get the noise as u feed the clutch in.
