Default Engine failure...

Do the new scooby's suffer the same problem as the classics with running Lean on Cylinder 3 ?

A mate of mine who has a garage just did an engine swap on a new age impreza due to problems and i just wondered if it was something that Subaru had cured or not?

AFAIK they reversed the flow to the fuel rails on later models.

Its not just that three can run lean (not in stock form really) but also the fact that its bolted to the exhaust uppipe and in close proximity to the turbo and runs hotter, its at the back of the block so the coolant is hotter, and the inlet manifold on that side is heated by the coolant expansion tank as well, all conspiring against poor old number 3!
