My car is grey and had gold wheels from new but I didn't want them either. I asked the dealer to swap them for standard silver wheels before I collected and he was happy to oblige as he said he would have no problem finding someone else who would prefer gold on their new car.

Might be worth speaking to your dealer to see if he would do the same thing ?

Cico - if you like the wheels buy the car and take them to a decent spray shop and have them painted another colour. You'll need to leave it with them or borrow a set of wheels in the meantime.

The spray job on my wheels is better than the original.

Andy Mid- the problem of bartering the wheels is this:STI has different tyres size than standard WRX, they are bigger and here in Italy STIs are imported only with golden alloys,so i should fit up my car with others alloys not original...but i don't like the idea, as the original ones have a great design!
thanks anyway for your suggestion!!

Kippax-so you're saying the spray job will ... "last forever" ?
how long ago did you spray your alloys?
and how long does it take this job?
sorry for all these questions but i'm seriously thinking of doing it !!
thanks again

SimonJM - i certainly agree with you : gold is the best for a blue car, taking in consideration also that these two colours are the WRC official ones; but on a grey car it's not so good...

Thanks Cico. The car handles better than ever because there is less roll with the 35 series tyres.

Cico - When I bought it the Eibachs were already fitted with standard STi shockers, bit too soft for me really. I'm gonna get some coilovers next.

Kippax,

Did you get your wheels refurbished locally? I've been trying to find a local decent refurbisher so I don't have to travel far on that lovely spacesaver

SimonJM - they do look best on a blue car I agree.

Cico - as long as you go to a decent spray shop and the wheels are prepared and painted proerly they will look as good or better and last as long as the original sprayjob. I bought four 18" Comopomtive MO's in gold (the colour didn't matter) at a reduced price and had mine colour coded to my silver STi5.

Alex,

It was Grove Auto's on Anfield Road, Cheadle Hulme.

I borrowed some standard wheels to have mine done but didn't think they wouldn't go over the front disks. Had to do them in pairs
