Default what bhp will standard crank take???

I was wondering what kind of power a crankshaft from a classic would take power wise, i have heard they will take about 500bhp but i'm not sure if that would be pushing it????

LOL well there's your answer then - either it CAN take a lot more than 500, or it CAN'T. Narrows it down nicely :-)

Although on a more serious note, as someone who doesn't really delve into the ins and outs of bottom end builds, surely what a crank will 'take' is nothing to do with actual horsepower on a turbocharged car, but everything to do with the rpm you want to run it at? What I'm getting at is, with a normally aspirated engine you can't avoid needing to rev an engine high to get a high specific output, which is all supported by the capabilities of the head and bottom end.
