Default wrx sti or wrx

hi can anyone tell me the main diferences between a my94 or 95 jap wrx sti and a wrx as i am going to look at one and the owner isn't sure which one it is,cheers

wrx will have less power and less toys on it than an sti, i have a 94 sti wagon, limited run of 200 ever made in this particular model, has a limited edition plaque under bonnet on left hand side strut. sti will have much nicer interior with embroidered bucket type seats in grey and dark grey colour.

something else to look for is that the sti's tend to have a red painted inlet manifold, however not always for the earlier ones (obviously standard wrx manifolds can be taken off and painted)

Rev counter (only goes upto 7000rpm redline on wrxs)

Only goes up to 7000 on sti ver.1 and ver.2, it was sti 3 when the 8k rev limit came in.
Check the VIN/engine numbers on the VIN plate, its the only sure way to tell.

i have a version 1 sti wagon and the redline on that is 8000
