Noise levels Black Flagged!

Noise levels Black Flagged!
Recently purchased a full on classic from Andy at power station and I was black flagged at Donnington yesterday for hitting 110 decibels on a 98db track day. The guys at revolution exhausts reckoned I would be around 92db's with their single box system - Any ideas how I can overcome this problem?
Cheers.......

Welcome to Scoobynet Mike
Have you contacted Revolution yet, wondering if they would do you a resonated / baffled centre section.
Other than that, I think an angled bung pointing either to the ground or the side of the track without the noise meters on .
Revolution are one of the quietest 3" I know of, they have a good rep on here too I think.
Perhaps they just didn't like you going faster than everyone else.

Same induction kit and pipework as I ran it at Coombe without any probs.
Wondering if the back box is "too new" as it was only put on.. what, a week ago I believe.
Doesn't completely rule out induction though I suppose, big sodding cone K&N under the bonnet vent.

Loads of people on here recommend this exhaust as a trackday friendly one though?
As far as I was aware they did drive by at Coombe when I was there.
and pre track test as well @ 3500 rpm

be very suprised if that system is only 92db even on a static test..........though 110 is way out
(generally most cars i have seen with that style exhaust have been 98-100 at 3500/4000rpm)
as above a bung or resonated centre is going to be the way out i guess??

There was a group of us went to Nurburgring 6-9th of July i got kicked off on the last day on my last lap for being over the 98db.
With just a standard sti bug and blitz centre section and back box it ran at 110db at 3000rpm!!!
So glad it was my last lap

Thanks for all this but I don't want to turn up at the ring in 3 weeks time to not be able to run again! Its such a great car but I seem to be tuning it up backwards now! It may well be an induction/wastgate/exhaust combination that is pushing it over the limit. But christ it sounds oh so gooooood!
Perhaps I should sell it and get one of my favourite cars..............A hire car that is! They are always fast!!!!!

How gutted was I when they picked me up in the car park and soundchecked me at 105dB! Luckily I was with a mate who was a regular and he got me in at Ring Racing to have the side pipe plated over that same morning. In the end it all 240bhp was blowing through a one inch hole - nice. But it scraped through at 95dB and they let me on. Until 4 laps later the engine bay caught fire because of the back pressure and heat that had been building up in the turbo...
Still, it was worth it for 4 laps of the 'Ring. But I'd never go over with an even slightly noisy 'zorst again. Just not worth the hassle at all.

Well I've not got the money to buy it back.
I think you need to bung it and get it on another trackday and ask for the noise levels to be monitored so you know where you are with it.
Then you can go to the ring with a clear(er) conscience.
Can't be half as loud as it used to be with this thing on it though...
now that was a bit silly...

What are your thoughts on running a super trap louvered unit on the rear just for the track. As they are adjustable I can adjust to suit - I have used these before just as the main silencers on SeaRoaders and I reckon they are a great design. How do track days view mods though? Do they give you a chance or two for adjustments?

Have seen them, never used, heard or know anything about them.
They look hideously restrictive though.
I should imagine any friendly track will take note of your efforts to rectify the problem and let you have another bash..
I didn't do many tracks in it, so probably not the best person to ask.
Sounds like there is plenty of veterans here though.
