Changes Discs And It Still Judders..??
As said. I need some technical help.
I was getting shuddering through the brake pedal so I changed the front discs. Problem is, with the new discs fitted its no different.
Can I have some positive help please guys, I'm at my bloody wits end with it.
Dan.

Well by changing the discs, unless you've warped them straight off, you've ruled them out as the problem. Leaving either the pads or the calipers. Presumably you checked your old pads for flatness and depth before refitting?

I would say you have a bent hub flange. I have seen this a number of times, it can be highlighted with new straight discs replacing old ones that have worn in line with the bent hub.
The best route forward is to get the hub checked for runout, and the disc, and see what's what.

I only drove a few hundred metres and turned round and came back. The existing look okay, they are quite new still.

If the wishbone bushes were perished would it cause judder under braking?

hi Dan. I would get balancing checked on wheels as it is fairly cheap to do and will eliminate the wheels. Garage should also be able to check for play whilst they have the wheel off.
good luck ken

I need new tyres on the front. Passenger worn more if that means anything. I was going to get the wheels balanced with the new tyres fitted, but don't want to get new tyres until this problem is fixed.
The thing is, this vibration isn't just slight, its really quite violent between 50-40mph. With that in mind I'm not convinced that the balancing is at fault.
So far I've:
Changed track-rod ends
Changed front shockers
Changed Pads
New Discs
What next??? Wishbone bushes??? Sledgehammer???

whilst i was road testing my WRX before i bought it, i noticed quite a violent judder too. I had the garage chnaged the discs and pads before i was happy. It sorted the problem, but 1500 miles later i can feel it creeping in again, not as bad but is definately there. Havent investigated it yet, but something is not right for sure. Good luck with finding your problem

I think listening would be a good start.

let me get this right........... the judder only occurs when you brake??? or just when your driving along?
if its the later, when you driving, does the judder only come at 40-50? does it get better when you go above this? if so i would look at the wheel balance.
if its only under braking then i would have someone check bushes, alignment and shocks.

Yep only under braking, and it is worst from 50mph - 40mph. I am arranging to get the Hub's checked and also check bushes at the same time. Hopefully this will show the fault..

Hey Dan, mine has been doing this for a while. No end of things been tried to work out what is wrong including new brakes all around wheel balancing, new tyres and even had the prop checked as sometimes the weights can come off or something (by swapping it around 180 degrees)....Nothing has fixed it. Mine is at around 80 and fairly violent as well, it does not get any better either. It may be a buckled wheel, although nobody has managed to identify that. To be honest, I think the next step is literally trying it with all the wheels replaced
I'll let you know....Maybe you could let me know as well?

A similar thing happened with my my97wrx, it turned out to be a buckled hub flange. I took my car to a local tyre place that could skim discs on the car, thinking a skim would fix it. The problem was really apparent when the hub was spun up to skimming speed.

I managed to borrow a Sealy Indicator Dial and Magnetic Stand in order to check the hubs for any run-out. With all the dirt cleaned away maximum run-out was 0.04mm so I don't think the Hub's are faultly.
What should I try next?
