Another oil catcher tank thread
When I got my Hybrid FMIC... I payed extra for thier Oil catcher tank...
It has 2 pipe fixings at the bottom...
I need to fit this to the Type R...
Can anyone help, explain best way of fitting it... pictures or a diagram would help...
I'm gonna mount the oil catcher tank around the fuel filter, tmic area, I don't have space for it anywhere else...
Also keeping it away from the turbo area as best as can...
I would fit it near the battery but struggling for space with the fmic pipes...

Mine's fitted where the old air filter unit was...sits nicely and at a decent level - in line with the cover for the oe 2 port solenoid. I can easily remove it also and the pipe runs aren't that long. I was surprised at how much mine fills as she's a new quality build 2.5L but running 1.65 bar boost.

That gives me a better idea... but can anyone explain abit more... or a diagram at all...
Theres a breather pipe on each rocker cover...
And one in the middle of the block...
Is that it...?
So do I just send them pipes to the catcher tank??? Or do I put 'Y' peices in???

i used one T piece to connect the passenger side breather to the throttle body (you will need a larger bore hose and reducer for that), and the other breather T'd into the PCV valve which is blanked off. Then both these hoses to the catch can...iirc

One thing is consistent, you want the crank case breather as free flowing as possible so ideally the catch can would be located furthest from this breather or run a longer crank case breather pipe to the can.

The return of gasses from the catch can is also the subject of some debate. If the gasses are reintroduced to the intake system then you are asking the engine to burn an oxygen free mix ! ie you are reducing slightly the amount of oxygen fed into the engine, this can only mean less power. I personally prefer to vent to atmosphere and block off the return to the intake system. There are concerns that this is not very 'green' however the vented gasses are just of the same constitution as your exhaust gasses (assuming you have a decat exhaust)
