Default IMPREZA 2000 AWD, TURBO

Just bought a turbo 2000 x reg Uk spec + standard 215 bhp with no upgrades about a month ago. i wanna really boost the beauty. Can i get this uptp 400 bhp, cuz ive seen an upgrade turbo from japan. what else will i need in addition to it. somebody list a few things please. cheers

Oh yes you can get it up to 400bhp, though it would have been easier on a later spec STi than on a UK car, your going to need an engine rebuild for reliability, about 6-7k, uprate the clutch, uprate the gearbox, well pretty much uprate the car.
Getting to 270bhp is cheap though, after that your going to need a bigger turbo to get upto about 320bhp, wouldnt push it too far though, and really you have bought the wrong car for getting to 400bhp cheaply.

get a full decat system, including downpipe. a green cotton panel filter and a remap. you could also get a sti intercoooler and uprate injectors and fuel pump.

it really depends how far and how much you want to spend??

270= easy, decat, panel filter remap
320-340 = very achieveable, but more expensive, add ported and wrapped headers, bigger turbo e.g. VF35, 3 port boost solenoid, better turbo hoses and a remap.

Above that it starts to get expensive really, and you're looking at better internals to ensure reliability.

300+ with a responsive turbo makes for a very quick road car. Trust me!

So say you get a nice free flowing exhaust with decat centre and up pipe, panel filter. It wouldn't cost that much more to get a different intercooler, say the autobahnn 88 FMIC or the V8 (is it?) Top mount. Would it be worth while? Then a remap after all is fitted.

Also when do the standard injectors and fuel pump max out or get over worked?

I have an MY99 too and am faced with the same dilemas!

Also, why do people use the Power FC? It's a piggyback ecu is it not? What's the difference in using the standard ecu if you need to get it mapped anyway?
