Default WRX ENGINE DEAD

Hi people.
Got a 95 wrx and ive blown a hole in no3 piston and this has happened before to the bloke i bought it off and had another engine put in.
Ive had ideas of forged pistons and rebuilding it as i found out why it has done it again. The block and crank etc are good.
Im a mechanic but i need some info on the engine ie rebuild manual to make it a bit easier if anyone can help??
Also where can i get forged pistons for it as ive had a quick look and noone seems to have any idea.
thanks

MIKEY B

Same problem with two different engines? I'm no expert but surely that points to that cylinder running hot or lean - either way a Walbro fuel pump and/or an adjustable fuel pressure regulator might prevent this happening over and over again.

Not really, number three is always the first to go pop on the EJ for three reasons:-
1/ end of fuel rail loop so any issues affect 3 worst
2/ Its right nest to the turbo and upipe and downpipe and cat so gets lots of heat put in it
3/ Its on the manifold side with the coolant expansion tank heating it up thus raising the IAT's on that side as well.

All in all If I was choosing a piston to be, it wouldn't be number 3!
