Hi I'm wondering if my car has already been chipped i havent a boost controller or guage but MY93 WRX STI came with a 3'' bore full turbo back exhaust and ive recently added a JR panel filter apart from that the engine is completely standard or so it looks. As its a fresh import I dont know much else about it but recently serviced it and the garage reckons it one of the sweetest engines he's come across for the year and says it definately adds up to the mileage of 64000 so quite pleased but would like to know if its chipped or any other secret mods that i dont know about. Get a boost guage on it (even a borrowed one) and post the exact model and boost your getting, someone will be able to tell you what stock boost is (0.75 bar from memory for a 93 WRX STi, but may be wrong) if its chipped then its likely to be more than that!

This is an early wrx (not sti) ecu but in the bottom rhs is a spare slot for chips.
your STI is modified from a wrx by Subaru themselves (STI weren't properly introduced until late 95 i think).

sorry checked the logbook and it is 94 L reg sorry, got me thinking so went and checked.

Open up the ECU dude. See if there is a chip in the bottom right (the pic from MBWRX). In the pic above there are two rows of solder in the bottom right, if it is chipped there will be summut there instead.
