Default What power from a 2.5 20g setup ?

Setup

2.5
20g
550cc
Standard/original manifold
Simtec ECU
Full decat
FMIC

(It was not mapped to it's FULL potential due to have the original gearbox and the worry that it would not cope)

Anyone with a similar setup that could share their outcomes ?

Mine currently hits MAX bhp around 5450 rpm , but does pick up VERY well from under 3000rpm......which is GREAT !! for day to day driving..... but occassionally I find myself there in the blink of an eye !!

I was just wondering what power/torque figure I could/should expect when it is fully wound up !!

and what ways can you effect/move the 'power band' - Different Manifold ?

Many thanks

What boost are you running?

I'm running 1.55bar with an estimated 380bhp, torque similar, 2.5 20g FMIC with 740cc Injectors

The 20g is rated at 400 bhp I think.

1.3 BAR currently

it was initially mapped to 355 / 365 ( pending a gearbox ) so it needs a bit more tweeking

Does the 20g have a td05 or td06 exhaust wheel. If the td05 then it might be at the same limit as the injectors, some were around 400hp. If you have a td06 exhaust wheel then the turbo has a better chance at getting the (about)440hp that the 20g compressor wheel can flow. But you would still be held up by the 550cc injectors at around 400hp.

It is the TD05 20g.......

I know it's only numbers but it would be nice to understand the limits of the current setup.......

Many thanks

Phil

Phil,
Your set up sounds pretty much the same as mine
I have tubular headers and a new age TMIC, running 1.3 bar on a Life racing ECU

I'm getting 350bhp / 350lbft, could probably push it quite a bit more if I added a FMIC

Nice one.....

Do you find it 'all ends' at 5500 rpm...... or do the headers shift the powerband ?

Cheers

Phil

My power just keeps rising well into the 6500rpm, but its the low torque I wanted, which peaks just after 3000rpm and stay flat ish until 5000rpm

Hi mate my setup aint anywhere near what yours is, but when I put my headers on I noticed that instead of boosting straight up to 16-17psi by roughly 4500rpm, mine would boost to about 12 psi, then when it reached 5500rpm boost would shoot up and settle at 17psi and pulled like a train. That was of course until the headers blew apart at the collector box , so if your planning headers buy a decent set and heat wrap them. DON'T by the cheapy ones from ebay coz there ****e!I learned the hard way!
