Can't check error codes without OBD-II cable and software on a newage, no plugs under dash to connect like in classic.
If it flashes under boost it can mean the ecu has detected knock, but it doesnt usually stay on in that case. A sensor is sending a value it doesnt like, A likely candidate is O2 sensor, but there are so many error codes you need to plug it in and read the fault.
See if there's a normal garage locally that can read error codes, most can now as its a standard connection. Otherwise ask on a local subaru club if anyone has cable and software, otherwise a phone call to a dealer (some charge up to 50quid ! - some will do it free) or subaru specialist to read the stored error codes.
