I havent done this on mine, but then I still have the undertray too

I would imagine the heat of the exhaust would keep things from staying wet too long anyway

Mornin mate

I wrapped my downpipe then coated it with exhaust wrap paint from Demon Tweaks. It is a little smelly at first, especailly after it gets wet (smells like baking brownies!!) but it goes after a while.

I wrapped my old megan headers then painted/sprayed the wrap. It smokes like hell and never loses the smell. This time round on ported OE headers (ported by me) I have wrapped but not painted.

I have been driving through the lovely weather we have had lately and had no problems. I wont be painting wrap again.

Wayne.

I use a long reach air powered die grinder and carbide bits.

I got some supper tough emery tape. It makes mince meat out of stainless steel. i've made a few attachments up to fit a air gun or drill. one is a 3 inch reach and the other is 5 inch do you think that will be enough as i've not taken the headers off yet.

I think my die grinder has a 6" shank and then the bit at the end.

5" is ok for the main porting although you still need to get in and remove the casting buttons and marks and smooth the inside surfaces as much as you can. Not a mirror finish, just smooth.

I finish with a stone wheel and thats it. No sand paper at all.

Last thing, make sure you keep the outlets from the collectors parallel. Dont be tempted to open them up at all. The only place that could be opened up is the outlet to the up pipe to suit a larger version.

Wayne.

Cant say I've ever heard of anyone doing anything with the wrap once its on
I've wrapped the downpipe and headers and nothing more - 3 years later its still 100% intact - sure it soaks up water - so what - it simply comes off a few minutes later with the heat
