i have been speaking to a friend, who reckons the decat down pipe from the 2002-2007 wrx is the same as the classic just with lambda holes in different places, is this true? will it actually fit?

from what i understand the pipe is shorter on new age.found that out on ebay lol.

That is correct.
A New Age d/p will not mate to a classic system.
