If it's an 802 it will have the same map as the UK standard MY00 turbo from factory.

I thought the rb5 was a MY99 with either 801 or 800 ecu. If this is so it will have the same map as the factory MY99 ecu, either 801 or 800. In other words the rb5 had the same map as the UK cars.

the rb5 ecu is the brown colour ecu(802) my 99 uk car has a 802 ecu ( i've looked) my cousin has a 99 uk car and his has the 801 ecu. so if i was to get the rb5 ecu i wouldnt see any power gains or nothing by fitting it then as it would be the same map as the 1 i already have is that right? i was under the impression that rb5's were fettled by prodrive. any information would be good. cheers guys

Black ecu is AE 800, early MY99. Brown ecu is AE 801, late MY99, green is AE 802, MY00.

If the AE802 fitted on your car is a standard one (and not been Ecutek'ed) fitting a AE801 or a AE800 ecu (that is standard for an RB5) AE800 is the best map out the two. The AE802 map is pants and will cause the car to hesitate around 4 k rpm.

Hope this helps, Phill

i have an rb5 and unless the ecu came from a wr sport model of the rb5 it will have the same maps as mentioned above. if however it is a wr sport model this will be an sti ecu pink label. this is mapped to around 240bhp. but note these cannot be remapped.so if your thinking of ecutek tek2 for example your better off with the standard ecu not the prodrive wr sport sti pink ecu....

The pink ecu is the PPP ecu by prodrive. It was fitted to the wr sport rb5, however lots of peeps with MY99/00 turbo cars went for this prodrive option as well.

yes if running in standard trim.
but if you want to increase the boost i.e manually or with an electronic boost controller, then the Ae802 is better as it runs a little bit richer.

If you want to run just 1 bar you can go and buy the boost controller to do it with your current ecu and it will be safe cos the 802 ecu runs richer than the 801, however, because 1 bar is low and very safe you could do this with the 801 and a boost controller and you would get better gains cos the 801 runs a little leaner than the 802 and it will still be very safe.

Personally I'd keep the 802 and and run it at 1.15 bar with a boost controller. I did that for many years on my MY00 before I upgraded the turbo and got an ecutek remap.

1 bar is only marginally more then the standard ECU, which peaks at 0.94bar IIRC

No, around 0.94 is as stated above, however with hotter weather it could drop to 0.6. Also depends if the boost gauge is reading correctly.

a friend plumbed the gauge in on his car . his gauge was reading .6 so was mine, when we plumbed it in on my car it boosted up to .6 so i guessed it was working right. what would cause it to run at .6 then instead of .94? can the boost be turned up on the actuater?

i just bought a new boost gauge to see if the old one was working ok, this one is in psi and is boosting at 10psi which = 0.68 bar(found a conversion chart on the web)so my old gauge was pretty accurate. why is my car under boosting what do i need to do to get it to boost where it should 0.9 bar or 13 pound?

Is it hot in the UK at the moment? If yes, I'd say it's that. My car runs 1.28 bar in cold weather and around 1.2 when it's hot.

I think its best to get the car checked out by someone who has ecutek delta dash and knows what he's looking for. Take it out for a blast in 3rd gear at wot to around 6,800 rpm, logging the run and checking fuelling, timing and boost. Check for sensor fault codes as well. 0.68 seems low and the ecu may be pulling boost back for some reason. First step is to do a log. You have to identify the problem, fix it, then do the mods. No good just upping the boost to get it to 0.9.

If no one you know has delta dash, then Subaru can check out the car, taking it out for a run with their select monitor.
