Default Help! MOT Failure..

Hi all,

Got my Car MOT'd last week and it failed on emissions. The test results were as follows:

Fast Idle Test CO: 1.076%
Second Fast Idle Test CO: 0.773%
Natural Idle Test CO: 1.081%

The guy told me it's probably cos I don't have any CAT's fitted. Any ideas where I can find a cat for my 95 Impreza WRS Sti (import) ? Need help asap as my tax has expired and I can't get it without the MOT!

Many Thanks,
Paul.

If it was registered before 1st Sept 95 then you get the Basic Emissions Test (says when it was registered on the V5 doc) worth doing a quick search on here though.
Otherwise do a search for impreza breakers on here and google.

Just had a quick look on the net and as yours is an import there most probably no EXACT figures for it on the database so only has to pass the static idle test.
So i'm guessing the MOT tester possibly didn't use the correct figures or used the UK Turbo 2000 figures.

I'm told there are new guidelines for post 93 imports that says they have to me some stock 'cat test' figures of 0.5%CO (can't remember the HC) but in this case idling at Lambda1 it should be at .67% anyway.

You can always get a centre exhaust with cat (cheap on ebay if you can wait) and fit that for the MOT, but strictly ia decat is illegal to use on the road as its contrary to construction and use as well as an MOT fail!

My MOT tester used the figures for a 2.5 Impreza on my '93

Happily, it passed with front cat in place

Just ordered 2 cats for £150 the pair from a breakers down south. Had the car at the local garage today and the entire exhaust system looks odd. It's a really big bore and straight through from downpipe to backbox. Hoping the cats are going to bolt straight on!

Having another problem today...car normally boosts to 16 psi but today it wont go past 6psi...any ideas
