Default How laggy is a GT35R going to be on a built 2.0L

As above really, what sort of rpm will it come on boost. What will the driveability be like? Also what sort of power levels should I expect?

Rotated GT35R with external waste gate
Tubular manifold
3 inch group N exhaust system
Car is a MY1999 with UK 6 speed non DCCD box
Apexi Power FC (will be using maf for time being)
740cc injectors I have 850's if i need them. Will I?
eagle rods
wiseco 93mm pistons
comp ratio is 8.35:1
Standard STI version 5 Heads, cams and valves.
Boost control will be via Apexi AVCR.
FMIC and reversed inlet manifold.
Lightened pulleys but standard flywheel for time being.

Your opinions please.

I would imagine if you had a rev limit of 10k rpm it would not be a problem.

1 bar @ circa 4k rpm seems to be available on a turbo that is slightly smaller than a GT30 on a 2L. I would hate to think what that would be on a GT35 on a 2L.

As you know i am running a gt30 .82 on my rcm 2.1 build,This turbo kicks hard at around 4,200rpm which is when the full boost kicks in ,so i would say a gt35 would have a fair bit more lag on a 2.0.

I might be able to answer the question with a bit more detail next week as mapping a 2litre with a GT35/40R..

but it wasn't the planned route.. or mean as a long term thing

Hi Daz,

My gt30r makes 1 bar @ around 4000RPM, I believe the Gt35 makes 1 Bar around 400 rpm later with the 0.82 housing, The only trouble I find is with fast pull away in 1st, if you get it wrong the revs die off and takes a while to build the boost, but when it does boost it hits the limiter straight away!!
Other than that I always manage to keep it in boost when required and I only have 5 gears to choose from!

a friend of mine has a gt30 on his 2ltr mapped by Andy F (bout 3 weeks ago) to 1.4bar, but doesn't (didn't) hit 1.4bar until 5500 .

engine out of car again as it's knackered.

i drove Bob Rawles a month ago with a similar set up to yours and that was just plain mental , yeah there was lag, but what a kick when it hit full boost

i've got a bit less power and we did go heads up on the drag strip and i beat him twice , 3rd time i snapped a driveshaft ,but after driving his i have got to get me 1 of them turbos
mine is an ej25 though .

too laggy for a 2.0 with the 0.82 housing, and with a 0.63 housing, it's not a good enough improvement in power over a gt30, which will have relatively little lag.
