Default V POWER NEXT BEST?

HI everyone
I am a new member so this is my first thread, i have just bought an 06 2.5 STI with a power upgrade to 340bhp done by powerstation (superb!) This is my first impreza haveing an old M reg legacy before. My problem is the nearest shell garage to me is 40 miles away! Can you give me your views on what else i can use, we seem to have every other type close by eg tesco, bp,esso. Cheers

You could always use a 97RON grade petrol and up the octane rating using octane booster.

Has the car been remapped?

What fuel was in the tank when it was remapped?

I ran my old 2.0 wrx on Sainsburys super unleaded. When I had it serviced by Barretts Motorsport, they connected a reading device to the diagnostics port that told them it was running at 100% throttle opening meaning that the engine was happy on the fuel. Used it ever since. That was a standard car though...

Isn't the BP Ulitamte 102RON the one that costs a ridiculous amout of money per litre?

I could be wrong but I think it's about £2.50 per litre!!

Yes, and it won't make your car any faster unless you remap it.

Correct. BP Ultimate 102RON is hand made in small batches, hence why it costs so much.

All that video proves is that a car will only produce as much power as its mapped for. If its mapped for 98ron fuel and you feed it 98ron fuel, it will produce full power. Give it 95 and it will produce less.
You pm'd me ( how sad is that) saying that 'you're wrong, 102ron fuel would give power gains in any car'. If that's the case, why didn't the renault clio produce more power on 97/98 ron fuel, than what it did on 95?
