Cambelt and crank oil seal change
Hi all,
I'm going to be doing a cambelt change on the weekend and the crankshaft oil seal as i've noticed a slight weaping.
What need to know is-
When i have the belt off can i take the oil pump straight off without taking the alternator or power steering pumps off etc
it all looks straight forward enough but is there any advice i could take note of.
cheers

What age car is it?? on my classic, i find it much easier to remove the radiator when doing the cambelt, if you do that, you won't need to remove the alternator or anything much else, it's never a bad idea to change the coolant anyway, and flush the rad through!!
Sorry, in answer to the question, yes, the pump basically comes straight off, and will only go back on one way due to the shape of the crank..... just make sure to seat the new seal in right.... and whilst you're there, check the tightness of the bolts on the back of the pump.....

if pump is removed make sure you prime oil up before you start the car , why are you removing pump anyway to change seal ? can be removed easily without removal of pump .if your removing pump you will need to clean surfaces and apply three bond , but make sure you dont go over board with it too . have you got a diagram for the belt for timing? , its easy really but pm me if you need one will email you one

Thanks for the info guys, all done now.
Found it really easy to do. Easy car to work on..
Heres a few pics along the way.
Here i have removed all the aux belts and tensioner
With the radiator out is was much easier to get the covers off. old belt exposed
the carnage so far..
Lower belt guide remove allowed the old belt to slip off
I did'nt get round to taking photos of the oil pump off but here's the tensioner under tension with a small allen key holding it in
all the pulleys back on bar the lower left one which goes on when belt is aligned.
Belt on and tensioner released and engine rotated a couple of times to settle things in
Once it was all together i gave it a test drive and all was sweet.
Thanks for the help guys.
cheers
