Default Replacing turbo

My 93 wrx has a VF12 turbo which runs out of puff at top end so am thinking of replacing it with a td05 (eventually) as i'm going to go down the same route as most Impreza owners (remap, more power, etc, etc).
1: What to look for in a turbo (mechanically) as i obviously want to get 1 that isn't ****.
2: How much would a td05 cost?

Cheers Paul

should get one for £150 or so just look for play around the shaft there will be a little that is normal but the blades should not touch the housing also look for cracks in the housing as they are well known for it.

Cheers for the replies.
Looking for 300bhp (more would be nice ) but got to think off what the gearbox will take (it's on it's way out now so will have to get it rebuilt to a higher standard clutch will be cnanged as well).
In the future will be doing fuel pump, fpr, injectors, fmic basically the usual things.

Have had a look at Andy Fs website and his AFP5-16 looks more than enough
