Default Speedo Cable fitting

How easy is it to fit a speedo cable?

A friend on mine took her car to Sussex performance centre with a knocking noise from the rear and then questioned as to why there were no rear speakers in the car?
what has this got to do knocking?

Anyway they then thought the knocking was speedo related? so they removed part of the speedo cable and the convertor, they then charged me £150 for the pleasure. I would have left it but after the dodgy question and not giving me a mechanics name and haveing 2 classic shapes (same as my friends) there 1 missing an engine which they thought mine needed and another missing various parts.

Anyway how hard is it to change the speedo cable? I am not sure which section but i have the convertor on the passenger seat that needs to be fitted as well and possibly need some clips the mentioned I needed?
Please help

I believe it needs the section from the gearbox mate I was given the converter separately so i always have the check engine light on constantly.

I have the new part but would like advice on fitting it. Can i do it myself or is it a garage job?

I found it easy but then I have changed the convertor 3 times.

A good mechanic should be able to change this is in less than an 1/2 hour.

From left to right starting from the orange rubber grommet to the black box is the short cable. The black box is the convertor. The cable after that is the longer part of the speedo cable which fits into the convertor then the back of the speedo.

There should be 2 clips. 1 which hold the short cable to the convertor & the other clip holds the longer cable to the convertor. This one is under the orange rubber grommit.

If you dont have the clips the cable wont hold in place.
