FIA approved racing harnesses, road legal?
#2
My 911 road hillclimber passed the Mot 15 times with a full 4 point harness and race seat no probs.
My Sti has the same, but i've kept the stock seat belt too for road comfort.

This paragraph is from the MOT testers manual, seems a harness is ok.
An adult harness belt comprising a lap belt and shoulder straps bearing a British standard marking is an acceptable alternative to any of the seat belt types listed.

Most FIA approved harnesses are not marked as road legal and most road legal belts and harnesses are not FIA approved. Technically FIA harnesses in a road car are an MOT failure if they do not carry the E or BS marks, even though they are often of a higher quality when fitted correctly. My own experience and Graham's above suggest that most MOT testers couldn't give a monkeys as long as they look like good condition seatbelts and have some kind of an approval label on them.
