Default What would be the effect,,,,

of putting a MY98 V4 STi ECU in a MY98 WRX ?????

If memory serves correct, both cars make the same power but the STi slightly more boost and torque, this may be part due to the fact the STi has different cams to the WRX but are there any other differences?

Basically, would it cause major damage to the WRX if the swap was made ??

Thanks

Not knowing the ins and outs of each ECU but at a guess the STi runs more ignition advance and boost. I doubt a huge amount of extra output (in normal tune) is down to the cams.

So IMHO it would run, but whether it would run safely I don't know. I'd suspect you'd want V-Power and octane booster in every tank to be sure.

The swap would only be a short term measure, ultimately I will fit a Power FC.
I have someone interested in buying my standard ECU and I can get my hands on an STi ECU to put in my car til I get the PFC

The car is run on V Power all the time anyway, I was just curious to find out if I would be causing too much harm to try the swap
